Zion Seed Foundation for Development is undertaking various initiatives in line with our proposed solutions. Key initiatives comprise the following:
Members of the ZiSFoD team played a central role in the All Children Reading Phase 2 initiative, demonstrating strong competence in literacy programming, system strengthening, and school-based capacity development. The team conceptualised key programme components and led implementation across selected districts, working closely with the Ghana Education Service and school communities. ZiSFoD members developed high-quality literacy training content and instructional materials for teachers, facilitators, and GES personnel. They delivered continuous coaching and mentoring support aimed at strengthening pedagogical skills, improving phonics-based instruction, and enhancing classroom literacy practices. The team also provided technical support for implementing structured literacy and numeracy activities, ensuring fidelity to programme design. Additionally, ZiSFoD staff worked with district-level stakeholders to coordinate programme rollout, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of results within scope, schedule, and budget. Through effective collaboration with local education authorities, community structures, and project partners, the team contributed significantly to improving foundational reading outcomes for children in participating schools.
ZiSFoD recently completed the conduct of a study on the implications access to WASH facilities has on menstrual hygiene management, school attendance and learning outcomes across 48-basic schools in six districts in Ghana. The study is using a triangulation mixed method approach - using both quantitative and qualitative approaches to establish the relationship between WASH facilities, MHM, school attendance and learning outcomes. The findings from the study are expected to help bridge the gap between policy and implementation by strengthening the evidence on how relevant WASH facilities are to achieving school outcomes.
The Reading Ghana – Western Region initiative is a flagship literacy enhancement programme funded by CODE (Canada) in partnership with the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation. Designed to improve foundational literacy outcomes among early-grade learners across selected districts in the Western Region, the project integrates community engagement, teacher capacity building, and culturally relevant reading materials to strengthen learning outcomes in underserved communities. Members of the Zion Seed Foundation for Development (ZiSFoD) played a central role in the conceptualisation, design, and early implementation of the project. From 2022 to 2025, the ZiSFoD team provided technical leadership in programme strategy, community mobilisation, and the rollout of school- and community-level reading activities. The team also supported teacher training, development of assessment tools, and continuous monitoring of reading performance.
This collaboration focuses on raising awareness about proper sanitation, hygiene practices, and the importance of clean water in preventing cholera outbreaks.
One of the key districts in Ghana with very poor sanitation and hygiene statistics and a hub for any cholera records
