Our Solutions
ECO-SOLUTIONS – This model offers five (5) distinct solutions aimed at tackling environmental challenges and promoting energy efficiency and conservation in schools and school-communities:
- Eco-Sanitation
- Eco-Hygiene
- Eco-Planting
- Eco-Climate
- Energy Education – Energy Efficiency and Conservation
ECO-SANITATION
under the eco-sanitation model, we work through school health and civic education clubs at the pre-tertiary level to drive education on sanitation – educating students on sanitation, its benefits, and empowering them to be sanitation champions:
- Club sanitation sessions
- Hands-on Eco-Sanitation Projects
- Peer Educators
- Recognition and reward programme
- Waste segregation
ECO-HYGIENE
under the eco-hygiene model, we also work through school health and civic education clubs at the pre-tertiary level to drive education on hygiene practices – educating students on handwashing, its benefits, and empowering them to be hygiene champions. Through this model, we consciously inculcate eco-friendly hygiene habits in students for life – helping both to improve personal health and to protect the environment.
- Eco-friendly handwashing stations
- Regular hygiene education sessions
- Hygiene Peer Educators
- Handwashing with soap games
ECO-PLANTING
under the eco-planting model, we also work through school civic education clubs at the pre-tertiary level to not only instill a love for nature and a green society but also promote sustainability and environmental awareness among students in a practical and engaging way:
- Tree-planting campaigns
- Plant Stewards
- Green Ghana Day
ECO-CLIMATE
this model focuses on educating students on the impact of human activities – including deforestation, pollution etc. and how these can disrupt eco-climate interactions. A number of school-level activities are used as platforms to provide students education about climate change and inspire them to become climate champions:
- Climate education sessions
- Climate action initiatives
- Art and science projects on climate themes
- Monthly “Green Days”
- Annual Climate Science Fairs
ENERGY EDUCATION
The EEC model is focused on influencing and changing behaviour regarding energy efficiency and conservation at the pre-tertiary level. This initiative seeks to achieve the following:
- Simple classroom energy audit
- Renewable energy modelling
- Energy-saving campaign posters
- Home energy efficiency checklist
- Annual energy efficiency and conservation project (EEC) festivals / fairs
Approaches To Implementing The Eco-Solutions:
TECHREAD
Thismodeloffersadistincttechnologyreadingsolutionaimed at improving reading at the primary school level.
Zion Seed enhances literacy and learning through technology by integrating innovative digital resources into literacy programmes, ensuring that students acquire essential reading and comprehension skills in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
- The Problem: The world faces an unprecedented learning crisis. According to UNICEF, nearly two- thirds of 10-year-olds are unable to read and understand a simple text. These children will not reach their potential and stand to face even greater challenges in the future.
- The Solution: Through our TechRead project, we will be partnering with selected Municipal and District Education Directorates to establish municipal/district-wide digital reading programmes. We seek to develop a replicable, systems-level approach to improving pupils’ reading behaviours and literacy outcomes through digital reading programmes in school, and full ownership and management by the partner district.
